I have an appointment tomorrow with a new cystic fibrosis doctor. Before this, I was still seeing the children’s one, but since I’m 22 now I have to switch to adult. The appointment starts at 7:30, which is really early, especially considering it’s an hour from my house.
I’ve been resting the past two days because I’m in a flare and need to get better so I have the energy to go to my appointment and also go to an event Saturday.

I had the appointment yesterday with my new CF doctor. It went well. I talked to a nurse, pharmacist, social worker, the doctor/nurse practitioner, did PFTs (pulmonary function test), and a physical therapist. The difference between childrens and adult (at least with my hospital) is that I will not see all these people every time I have clinic, and also I can do some appointments with the doctor virtually. I also no longer have to get chest X-rays every year, which is nice.
It’s nice to be treated like an adult, even though I’ve been one for 4 years now. I feel like, because of everything I’ve been through, I’ve mentally always been older than I physically am, so for that to be reflected in my treatment by medical staff is awesome. I liked everyone there as well.
I think I’m out of the flare I’ve been in for the past week, and it’s definitely because I rested for those two days straight. Resting is hard for me mentally; it makes me feel unproductive and useless at times, but I find that if I schedule rest or am more intentional about it, it’s easier.
